3M Daylight Redirecting Film in Santa Ana, California

Solar Art installed 3M Daylight Redirecting Film to the County of Orange in Santa Ana, California! The business owner wanted to block out the harsh sun coming in the upper section of the windows in the office and make the workspace more comfortable for the employees who work in the open office area. The sun radiates through those upper windows and beams down on everyone who works in that area. The office heats up throughout the day and makes the space pretty uncomfortable to work in. The owner of the business recognized this and was looking for a solution to make the office more comfortable.

The business owner heard about window film and researched window film companies near him to see if it would be a good solution to reduce heat in the office. He came across Solar Art’s website and learned we service commercial buildings every day, so he decided to set up a free consultation with one of our field estimators!

Solar Art's Goals

Solar Art’s goals for this project were to help the business owner find a window film that would block heat from entering through the upper windows and to ultimately make the open area of the office space cooler and a better working environment. Our sales representative for our Orange County location, Jeff, met the business owner onsite to take a look at the windows in question. Typically, when we send a field estimator onsite, you can expect them to take exact measurements of the glass. We do this so we ensure we send out the appropriate amount of window film when we do the installation.

While onsite, the estimator will also explain the different window film options the customer has and show samples of each. This allows the customer to hold the sample up to their glass to get an idea of what it will look like. Since this customer was looking for a way to reduce heat, Jeff showed him different solar films that will help do just this!

Solar Art's Suggestions

Since the customer was having an issue with heat, our sales representative instantly thought of a solar film to help mitigate this problem. After talking with the business owner, Jeff learned the more specific details of the project. He learned that the lower section of the windows have blinds and provide glare reduction for workers. The upper windows, however, do not have the blinds due to the overhang. The sun shining in is what’s causing the uncomfortable workspaces for employees. After hearing this, our sales representative suggested two different window films as potential options.

The first window film he suggested is a decorative window film called Glacier. Glacier is an opaque window film that will reduce the amount of heat from entering the building. Since it’s opaque, people outside the building can’t see in and people inside the building can’t see out either. The other window film our sales representative suggested is 3M Daylight Redirecting Film. 3M Daylight Redirecting Film reflects incoming light that comes through glass upwards and redistributes it to the deeper parts of the room, so the room is evenly lit.

What the Customer Chose

After hearing the different options, hearing what Jeff had to say, and seeing the different samples, the customer decided to go with the 3M Daylight Redirecting Film. The customer chose the 3M Daylight Redirecting Film over the Glacier film because this product redirects the sun and glare upward, which will provide the most relief for the workers who work in this area of the office.

Results of the Window Film Installation

This installation ended up being a pretty big one! When it was all said and done, we installed 2,145 square feet of 3M Daylight Redirecting Film! It took a team of three installers three full days to complete the installation. We asked Jeff what his overall thoughts were on the project and he said, “this was a tough job due to the overhang, but the installation went smoothly and we were able to help the customer block the heat entering the upper windows!” Success! We were able to help the customer make their office space more comfortable, which was their ultimate goal.

In addition to 3M Daylight Redirecting Film and solar film, Solar Art also services decorative window film, custom graphics, anti graffiti film, window security film, and exterior building wraps. We have offices located in Orange County, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle, but we can travel to wherever your project might be.
