Solar Art installed a privacy window film at Amazon in Seattle, Washington! Being as we have an office located in Seattle, Washington we are lucky enough to have Amazon as one of our customers and we get to do work for them all the time. As you know, Amazon is a big company. They have a lot of different buildings on their campus and they all have different purposes. Being that they are such a big company, privacy is really important to Amazon. In the buildings that have offices and employees working out of them, they like having large windows. The windows let in a lot of sunlight and allow the employees to utilize the beautiful views of Seattle.
However, when it comes to the facility buildings where the products and the equipment are, privacy is their top priority and they don’t like the large, glass windows. Since there are a lot of buildings on the campus, window film is a pretty big project. Like I mentioned earlier, we work with Amazon a lot on getting privacy window film installed on the facility buildings. They had a newer product building that didn’t have any window film on it yet and anyone could see right into the building and see the products being held there. They decided to call us up to get privacy window film installed on this building also!
Our primary goal in any installation is to help the customer resolve the issue they are having. In this case, the issue was privacy. Our goal was to meet with the customer to learn exactly what they are looking for and help them find a solution to their privacy issue. Even though we have done a lot of work with Amazon, we always like sending a sales representative on site for a few reasons. The first reason is to make sure we know what they want exactly. The second reason is to take exact measurements.
We want to be sure we know the sizes of the windows so we bring the right size rolls and the correct amount. Our sales representative met with the customer at the building to see exactly what we were working with. He asked the customer what their exact goals were. The customer expressed they don’t like anyone seeing the interior of their facilities and this particular building has a lot of glass that is visible to the interior from the freeway. They were looking for a window film that would provide maximum privacy and prevent anyone from being able to see into their facilities.
This project was a little different than other installations that we’ve talked about in the past in the sense that the window film the customer wanted to use was already spec’d. They have used this privacy window film on past installations before and were pleased with the outcome. The customer felt it greatly increased privacy and still gave the building a professional look. Our sales representative still met with the customer on site to see if they wanted to use the window film that was spec’d or learn about the other options they could potentially go with. He talked about how not only will the window film that’s spec’d increase privacy, so will all other decorative window films. Our sales representative reassured the customer that the privacy window film that’s spec’d will prevent people on the freeway from being able to see into the facility building.
Ultimately, the customer decided to go with the privacy window film that was spec’d. They decided to go with this window film because they knew what it was going to look like from past installations and they knew that privacy was going to be significantly increased and people driving by wouldn’t be able to see into the building and easily see their products. The privacy window film that was spec’d for this project is called 3M Essen and it is part of 3M’s Fasara line.
3M’s Fasara line consists of different decorative window films. 3M Essen looks similar to a frosted window film and is frequently used to control both light and privacy through a building’s interior glass. An added benefit of this privacy window film is that it blocks 99% of UVA and UVB rays. These ultraviolet rays are the leading cause of sun fading. The customer can have peace of mind knowing that not only are they increasing privacy in the facility building, they are also protecting the items in the facility building from sun fading. A win-win situation if you ask me!
Overall, the results of this installation were a success. We were able to successfully increase privacy to another Amazon building. We installed the window film that was spec’d to all of the glass in the facility building and privacy was significantly increased. People driving by on the freeway are no longer able to see into the building, which was their number one priority. We asked Scott, the sales representative who worked on this job what his overall thoughts were on the project. He said: Overall, this job went really well. The 3M Essen frost film has a very subtle privacy appearance so the film application does not have an intrusive appearance, which is nice.
The customer can obtain privacy without it being obnoxious.” This installation ended up being 2,300 square feet and took our Seattle installation crew two days to complete. In addition to privacy window film and decorative window film, Solar Art also services solar film, custom graphics, anti graffiti film, window security film and exterior building wraps.
