Solar Art installed window film to block sun heat at a home in San Francisco, California! The homeowner is having a serious problem with heat in the kids bathroom on the second floor of the home. As you can see from the photos, sun beams through the glass window and makes the bathroom unbearably hot. The customer is upset because it gets so hot in the bathroom that even turning on the air conditioner doesn’t seem to help fix the problem. The homeowner didn’t want to resort to blinds or shades in the bathroom so they did some research to see if there is another solution to the heat problem. In addition to heat in the bathroom, the customer is also having an issue with privacy in the kids play nook area. This room is on the first floor of the home and the homeowner didn’t want people walking by outside to be able to see into the play nook area. The customer came across window film online and reached out to Solar Art to see if there is a window film to block sun heat as well as increase privacy. Our sales representative met the customer at their home to take a look at the glass, take exact measurements and show the customer different window film samples for both heat and privacy.
It’s really important for our sales representative to go on site and take a look at the glass to make sure we can actually apply window film to it. Most glass is totally okay, but in the case of this customer, it’s a good thing we went onsite. The interior side of the glass on the window in the bathroom is textured. Window film can’t stick to textured glass, which means it can’t be installed to the interior. With that being said, there is exterior window film to block sun heat. Our sales representative confirmed we do have access to get to the window from the exterior so we were good to go. From there, the customer looked through different exterior window film samples and ended up choosing Avery DR Grey 20X. This is a dual reflective window film, which means it's a window film to block sun heat. It’s actually going to block 69% of heat, 79% of glare and 99% of UVA and UVB rays. This is going to make a noticeable difference in the temperature of the bathroom and the customer doesn’t have to lose any natural light. For the play nook area, the homeowner decided to install 3M Fine Crystal which is a decorative window film that is going to significantly increase privacy. It will completely prevent people who are outside from being able to see inside the home. It will also prevent those inside the home from being able to see out. In addition to window film to block sun heat and decorative window film, Solar Art also services custom graphics, window security film, anti graffiti film, and exterior building wraps.
